// WHAT WE COLLECT
The minimum we need to run the app:
- Your email (for sign-in and account recovery).
- Your username and the profile fields you fill in.
- Spots you submit, clips you upload, comments you write, places you save.
- Your approximate location, only while you're using location-aware features like the map or DTS, and only at the precision the feature needs (DTS rounds to a block; the map can use your actual coordinates to center the view).
- Standard server logs (IP, user agent) for security and debugging. These rotate.
// WHAT WE DON'T COLLECT
- We don't track you across other websites.
- We don't sell your data. We don't sell ad placements. There's no ad network on SkateMaps.
- We don't build a behavioral profile on you for monetization.
- We don't share your data with brands, sponsors, or partners. There aren't any.
// WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL
In /me/privacy:
- Toggle DTS visibility and radius.
- Toggle whether your saved spots and saved searches are visible on your public profile.
- Toggle whether your activity (clips, comments, sessions) appears on your public profile or stays private to you.
- Turn on family, beginner, or adaptive mode.
- Manage which emails you get from us (we send few; transactional only by default).
// DELETING YOUR ACCOUNT
You can delete your account at any time from /me/privacy. Deletion removes:
- Your profile, email, sign-in.
- Your saved spots, saved searches, and private favorites.
- Your DMs (these are removed from both sides of the conversation since they're your data).
- Your clip uploads (the underlying files are scheduled for permanent deletion within 30 days).
We do not remove:
- Public spot submissions you contributed (the spots stay on the map; your authorship line becomes "former member").
- Public comments tied to community moderation actions (we keep the record for audit reasons, but the username is detached).
If you want a full data export before deletion, request one from /me/privacy first. We send it as a JSON file.
